It is incredible to think that tomorrow is the final day of the 2020-21 school year…and what a year it has been!  While we still are not back to 100% normal, it is exciting to know that we will be celebrating this milestone day with our promoting kindergartners, fifth and eighth graders!  Because of this, traffic activity will increase around the school area beginning at 8:00 am.  There is very limited parking availability in our lot (please do not park in the numbered spots) so be sure to come over early so you can park in the neighborhood.  As always, please be caring and respectful of our neighbors!

Tomorrow is a Minimum Day for all Grade Levels

Kindergarten:                  8:00-11:55 am

1^st– 5^th grade:                   8:00-12:05 pm

6^th-8^th grade:                    8:00-11:34 am

5^th Grade Celebration:

• Begins at 8:30, parents must enter from the front gate ONLY, beginning at 8:15.
• Limit to 2 people per family.
• Staff will help with seating- families must be spaced 6 feet apart.
• Masks must be worn at all times.
• Students may be checked out following the celebration-staff will be at the table in front of the office.

Kindergarten Celebration:

• Begins at 11:00, parents must enter from the kindergarten gate ONLY, beginning at 10:50 pm.
• Limit to 2 people per family.
• Staff will help with seating- families must be spaced 6 feet apart.
• Masks must be worn at all times.
• Students may be checked out following the celebration-staff will be at the table in front of the office.

8^th Grade Clap Out

• Begins at 11:30, families must be off campus and congregated in Cordova Park outside the Hankey gate and the coned off area.
• Please be appropriately spaced.
• Masks must be worn if you are not able to be spaced apart.
• Clap out will conclude at 11:40.

Elementary Program C Students:

Hankey Program C students- we need your textbooks!  You can return them the last day of school starting at 8:00 until 12:30pm. If you are unable to return textbooks this day, you can return them on Friday 6/4 between 8:00 am-12:00pm and 1pm-3:00pm. 

Middle School Option B Students:

Online students who did not return textbooks or other library materials last week can return them the last day of school starting at 8:00 until 12:30pm. If you are unable to return textbooks this day, you can return them Friday 6/4 between 8:00 am-12:00pm and 1pm-3:00pm. Books not returned by 3:00pm will be considered lost and accounts will be charged.

I-Ready Reading and i-Ready Math Family Reports will be coming home to all 3^rd-5^th grade families on Thursday, June 3^rd. The reports are two (2) pages in format for each subject and teachers will be handing them directly to students at the end of the day. I share this information with you so you can keep an eye out for the report when your student gets home from school.

These iReady reports are a result of your student taking our annual local assessment in class these past few weeks and will give you a snapshot of your student’s performance in both reading and math. The report shares general information as well as key terms and focuses on their performance in key domains.

Our site staff will be using this valuable performance data to support planning for the 2021-22 school year and to also review placement into appropriate courses in an ongoing fashion. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school so that we can help.

Summer meal distribution will start Tuesday, June 15 at the Food & Nutrition Offic (32972 Calle Perfecto, SJC). 7 day meal kits will be available from 8:00-10:00 AM every Tuesday from June 15 – July 27.

Middle students need to return all textbooks, novels, and library books to the Media Center no later than Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

Parent/Guardian Webinar Topic: Summer Support

Recently the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provided updated guidance regarding face coverings when individuals are outdoors. This updated guidance impacts our school in two ways:

1. Recess: Students will no longer be required to wear a mask for the entire time they are at recess. As long as a student maintains six feet of physical distancing from other students he/she may remove his/her mask. Students who gather close to one another should keep their masks on, however, if they are playing a game that keeps them separated from one another, they may remove their masks while they are distanced from one another. (Students are still required to wear a mask while indoors in class.)
2. Arrival/Dismissal: Vaccinated adults who are dropping off or picking up students are not required to wear a mask so long as they maintain physical distancing from others. As the guidance indicates, please maintain physical distancing from those not in your household when you do so. 

We are pleased to see a continued evolution to a greater degree of normal. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work to follow the guidelines provided to us by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

Buenas tardes familias de Hankey,

Recientemente, el Departamento de Salud Pública de California (CDPH) ha actualizado las guías acerca de cómo cubrirse la boca y nariz cuando las personas están al aire libre. Estas recomendaciones impactan a nuestras escuelas de dos maneras: 

1.     Recreo: Los estudiantes no tendrán que usar mascarilla durante todo el tiempo que estén en el recreo. Los estudiantes pueden quitarse la mascarilla, siempre y cuando mantengan una distancia física de seis pies con el resto de estudiantes. Los estudiantes que se reúnen en grupos deben mantener sus mascarillas puestas, sin embargo, si están participando en un juego que los mantiene separados entre sí, pueden quitarse las mascarillas mientras exista el distanciamiento físico. (Los estudiantes deben usar sus mascarillas cuando estén dentro del aula de clases).

2.     Entrada/Salida: Los adultos que están vacunados no están obligados a usar una mascarilla cuando dejan o recogen a sus niños de la escuela, siempre que mantengan una distancia física de las demás personas. Como se indica en las guías, por favor mantenga distancia física de las personas que no viven con usted durante este proceso.
